Guerra Racing7月19日 Wed Night Race Crystal RidgeRon and I battled it out for 3 laps, some of the best racing experience I have had, both attacking each other waiting for the other too fade, small breaks and gaps bridged. Seriously, this was probably one of the most enjoyable races this year. Both Ron and I were attacked by trees, luckily my armor was unscathed. 7月15日 Firecracker 13th, Reforestation Ramble 7th!
I like where this seems to be heading! More pics and race report as soon as I can grab some from the nice peeps who stand around and snap photos and cheer us on.
6月23日 No Time, Forget Kettles, Hill Repeats!Kinda wanted to stick around the area today and not get sucked into driving and wasting time and money to go ride. Called up Kyle and told him I was planning on riding "The Hill" also known as the Adversary around our house. Which means I am going to go do hill repeats and maybe an interval session around Lac La Belle. Repeats seemed to hurt a little more then usual today, but sometimes I think they always "hurt more then usual". 2 sets of 5 repeats up the hill and we called it a workout. Its a straight up power workout. Headed for a ride around the lake and decided just to spin around and enjoy the wonderful weather. Jerry Leair says he is gonna meet up with me around Hartland for the second half of the ride tomorrow (see previous post). Any other takers? Gotta love Kyle's style :) 6月22日 No race, Good ride!Decided that 5 hours driving day of a race is no way to spend time away from the family, so skipped Phillips. Checking for results all night Sunday, was actually not the least surprised at Stawicki's awesome performance. For some reason I was thinking he would pull that off while on my ride that was actually during the race on Sunday. I have been neglecting long rides this year so I decided to start adding them in by riding home from Church on Sundays, we go to church in Milwaukee and I add in the Tuesday night worlds ride for some hills. Had an awesome ride, tempo to start felt good and worked the hills, hitting what I thought was max heart rate and feeling like I can put in another gear and gun it to the top. This feeling remained until about 3 1/2 hours in just after the ashipun hills, ran outta water, even after going through 2 bottles and stopping for 2 more bottles add my Dads in Hartland, but I guess it was 95 degrees out. 20 minutes later all the wind is outta my sails and bonk comes on and I suffer spin into Oconomowoc in the smallest gear I have, which on my MTB is my middle ring. Thought for sure I would be spent after a bad bonk, but went out on the Monday ride from YMCA at Pabst Farms and felt pretty good. My lap times at Wednesday Night racing Crystal Ridge tell me that long rides on the knobbies is good for strong tempo, didn't really feel that "absolute suffering" pain all race, just good and liquid smooth cadence. Thinking liquid because that is another big focus I am on, keeping them in me! I drank 2 bottles in a 1 hour race and it HELPED A TON. I don't know if its just my biology or what but, in order to feel like I am on top of my hydration I have to be drinking at every chance a race course will give me. Was hoping for competition Wed. night, but Carlos showed up with no rear shift housing on accident, and his rigged single had no gear on the flats from the start and MG was just riding with his Junior Team, who have been ripping up the the road scene. There was also the odd cameo of Thomas Bender(who did not start with us and was no where in sight at the start or after the finish) who on the third lap was suddenly riding with MG and one of his juniors as I lapped traffic. Lets get some elite turn outs on Wed nights! Looking forward to riding this weekend, I think Kettles late afternoon Saturday and Sunday worship after worship will be...Downtown MLK, Oak Leaf trail, New Berlin Trail, Glacial Drumlin, DT N., E N., Pit Stop Dads on Nagawicka, and off to the Tues. Night world course and cut it short in O-Town to come home. Anyone interested in intersecting either ride let me know. They both had long weekends and I had a little ride on Sunday, so I wanted to go all out and get some distance getting ready for Wausau, but they were recovering from the 3 hour at New Fane and wanted to be fresh for what Ron calls the "Tuesdays Night Worlds", Which might be the fastest ride in the area. It rolls outta transition cycle at 5 PM on Tuesdays. I had other reason for wanting to go hard today, I am on the newborn training program. Sleep, eat, ride.....when you can and make it count! Here are some pictures of Charis Mary Guerra our newest addition to the family!
She is actually really easy compared to the first time around. Sleeps pretty well already and hardly fusses at all. A lot of people have said she looks a lot more like my side of the family. And for those who are wondering where Charis comes from, its Greek and means grace and its where we get the word charisma from, so just take the "ma" off of charisma and you have said it, well without that Z sound some people put into the S in charisma. Thanks for reading, Nathan
